Jerry and George, together again!
For the Crackle series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, Jerry Seinfeld and Jason Alexander take a drive as their characters from NBC’s Seinfeld and even stop by their favorite restaurant. The release says this is the first time in 16 years members of the Seinfeld cast have reunited in character (not counting HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, which had members of the Seinfeld team playing versions of themselves off camera and during a fictional Seinfeld reunion).
Here’s a longer version of the clip that just played during a Super Bowl ad for the show. The perky jazz music is annoying. The dialogue isn’t fantastic. But just seeing Jerry and George falling into their familiar conversational rhythm makes this a must-see for Seinfeld fans (“You don’t overcheer!”).
“Fox approached Larry and me about doing some kind of Seinfeld reunion for the halftime broadcast because of the New York connection,” Seinfeld said in a statement. “So we thought throwing Jerry, George and Newman into a Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee was a fun way to do it. Larry and I wrote the script in one sitting, just like old times, and working with him, Jason and Wayne was a total blast as it always was.”
