'Drop Dead Diva' taps 'Pretty Little Liars' vet for guest spot

Janel Parrish is used to being in sticky situations on Pretty Little Liars, but her next dilemma is going to require some professional intervention.

EW has learned exclusively that the actress has been tapped to guest star on the final season of Drop Dead Diva. Parrish will play a character named Chelsea Jones, a cheerleader for a professional basketball team who finds viral video fame after someone captures her epic on-field meltdown on camera. When she decides to sue the team, she calls in Jane (Brooke Elliot) for help, but also becomes a target of bullying by the head cheerleader.

Parrish, who currently plays Mona on ABC Family’s teen hit, will begin filming Friday for the episode, which will air this April.

Drop Dead Diva returns with its final season March 23 at 9 p.m. ET. Colin Egglesfield (The Client List), Virginia Williams (How I Met Your Mother), and Corbin Bleu (High School Musical) are among the guest stars slated for the the season opener. Rick Springfield and Jay DeMarcus from Rascal Flatts are also set to appear this season.
