'Archer: Vice' R.I.P.? Creator reveals plans to 'unreboot, or whatever' next season

On the current, fifth season of FX’s animated sitcom Archer – the rebranded Archer: Vice – the members of ISIS have transformed from spies into drug dealers as they try to sell a literal (not a figurative!) metric tonne of cocaine. But creator and writer Adam Reed has good news for fans who miss the espionage-themed shenanigans of yore. “I think this next season we will sort of unreboot, or whatever – deboot,” he reveals to EW, “and get back to the basics of some spy missions.”

Season 6 will not be a complete “unreboot,” however, thanks to the fact that the purportedly “man-handed” ISIS spy Lana will be dealing with new motherhood. “Lana’s going to have a baby, so I see some funny things with getting her co-workers to babysit,” says Reed. “I wrote this down the other day: ‘Somebody walks in on Pam [Poovey, ISIS human resources director] chewing up Vienna sausages and then spitting them into the baby’s mouth like a gorilla.’ They’re like, ‘What are you doing?’ And she’s like, ‘This is how I always do it!’”

You can read much more about Archer in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, and you can watch a new episode on FX on Monday night at 10 p.m. ET.
