Singer Alexa Ray Joel collapsed onstage

Singer Alexa Ray Joel collapsed onstage while she was playing a show at New York’s Cafe Carlyle Saturday night, according to People.

Joel, the daughter of Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley, was immediately taken to the emergency room and diagnosed with vasovagal syncope, a common cause of fainting where a drop in heart rate results in limited blood flow to the brain.

“I was excited and determined to fulfill my final performance, and I really wanted to end my run with a bang, but this was not what I had in mind and hope I have the opportunity to make it up to the wonderful audience very soon,” Joel said in a statement to People. “Thanks for all the concern.”
