Another week, another immunity idol. And a new twist at an old Survivor standby — the food auction. When it was all over, another contestant was sent to the jury, while the remaining players were left to wonder where exactly they stood after the game was turned on its head once again. My full recap will be up at midnight, but if you’d like to sound off on what happened and who went home, then read on for more. [SPOILER ALERT: Read on only if you already watched tonight’s episode of Survivor: Cagayan.]
It was Survivor auction time as the players were each given $500 to bid ungodly sums on semi-edible food items. Only this time, two players (Tony and Spencer) did not bid at all, preferring to save all their money for the inevitable advantage in the game that would be auctioned off. (Tasha also had all her money, but did bid on the second item offered, only to lose out on the quesadilla to Jefra.) But in a new twist, that advantage was not given to the first person to yell out for it, but rather the $500 would only buy you a chance of winning — a chance that Tony won after pulling the black rock (to Spencer’s losing white).
That advantage ended up being a clue to another hidden immunity idol, which Tony then found, making it the third he has located his season and second he is currently holding. But the night was far from a complete loss for Spencer. He played on Tony’s paranoia and convinced the New Jersey police officer that there was a female alliance brewing against him. As a result, Tony turned on a person, Jefra, he would have a much easier time beating in the finals, leaving the much bigger threat of Spencer alive and kicking. Jefra now heads to the jury, and the six remaining contestants must prepare for what appears to be a free-for-all sprint to the finish line.
