Syfy orders third 'Sharknado'

SHARKNADO

Sharks and tornadoes – will the mayhem ever cease?

Syfy has ordered a third Sharknado movie (because of course they are). The cable network has made the commitment even before the first Sharknado sequel has premiered (Sharknado 2: The Second One – yes, that’s the title – debuts July 30).

Can you imagine how traumatized the world’s psyche would be after two major cities were attacked by shark-filled tornadoes? And what location will be decimated next, do you think? The first two films were set in Los Angeles and New York, respectively. Fun fact: According to AdWeek, the first Sharknado was shot for merely $250,000 (which gives you a sense of star Tara Reid’s asking price). Also from Syfy’s slate announcement Wednesday, we broke that Battlestar Galactica star Tricia Helfer is returning to Syfy to star in a new series.

What do you think of Syfy’s plan? Is the franchise, as one writer tweeted, set to jump the Sharknado?
