Kentucky Derby: California Chrome won, but so did Johnny Weir

Johnny Weir

California Chrome, the favorite going into the 140th Kentucky Derby, won the Race for the Roses on Saturday. But he also turned in a great performance meeting NBC duo Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski in a pre-taped segment. Watch a highlight below in which Weir reads the ingredients of Chrome’s lucky cookies to the horse. (Chrome nipped at Weir, which is why Lipinski later picked him to win.)

Also below, a look at Weir’s hat, which did not disappoint, and another must-see moment (when Weir describes Wildcat Red’s breath).

P.S. The horse named Danza came in third.
