Lifetime has begun early development on a film documenting the incredible true story of Michelle Knight.

Tentatively titled The Michelle Knight Story, the film will explore the story of Knight, who in 2002 at the age of 21 was abducted by Ariel Castro in Cleveland and held as a prisoner in his home alongside Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus for over 11 years before escaping last May. At the time of her kidnapping, Knight was a single mom fighting for custody of her two-year-old son.

Knight’s story joins a long list of previous true stories adapted by Lifetime, including Bonnie & Clyde, Lizzie Borden Took an Ax, and Liz & Dick. Stephen Tolkin (Brothers & Sisters) is writing the script.

Variety first reported the news.
