Following the success of last summer’s Disney Infinity — a magical mash-up of collectible toys and interactive adventures — the House of Mouse is readying a sequel. Officially dubbed Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes, the “2.0 Edition” once again lets fans bring plastic playthings to in-game life by placing them on a portal-like peripheral. This time, however, Disney’s pretty princesses and playful pirates are taking a backseat to Marvel’s iconic line-up of day-savers and do-gooders.

Featuring slick sculpts of Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, Captain America, Hulk, and Hawkeye — the first three of whom will be bundled with the game’s starter pack — the title supports both “Play Sets” and “Toy Box” mode. The former — standalone, story-driven campaigns — will task armchair Avengers with battling Loki’s Frost Giants in Marvel’s Manhattan, while the latter will encourage them to let the leash off their creativity in a do-it-yourself virtual sandbox. Figures from the original game are also “forward-compatible” with the follow-up, so a blossoming romance between Queen Elsa and the Hulk isn’t entirely out of the question.

On top of the initial spandex-clad cast, Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes will be supported continually with new characters, Play Sets, and upgrade-packing Power Discs. While only the aforementioned six figures have been officially revealed, the announcement trailer suggests that more than just the Avengers will be assembling for the game’s fall debut.
