Maya Rudolph’s take on reviving the prime-time variety show had a solid performance in the ratings Monday night backed by a powerful Voice finale lead-in.
The debut of NBC’s The Maya Rudolph Show delivered 7.2 million viewers and a 2.2 rating among adults 18-49. That won the 10 p.m. hour, including topping the second half of ABC’s premiere of The Bachelorette. The downside: The Saturday Night Live alum lost a large amount of her big lead-in, then shed an additional 21 percent after her first half-hour (our take on the show).
Overall good news for reality shows last night (if good can be defined as “not too bad”): ABC’s Dancing With the Stars finale was steady with last spring’s finale, The Voice slipped 16 percent from last year’s finale, and the season premiere of Bachelorette was stable with last year’s opener. On Fox, 24: Live Another Day slipped 15 percent and it seems increasingly unlikely we’ll ever get 24: Live Yet Another Day After That. Full chart:
