Mean Girls has been “gamified.” In honor of the film’s 10th anniversary (I feel old), Cinefix has presented the classic tale of high school queen bees and wannabes in the form of an 8-bit video game, created by David Dutton with music by Henry Dutton.

Follow Cady around as she tries to navigate her way through her new school, collecting inventory (map to the school, pink shirt, Kevin G.’s business card, protein bars, etc.) and making friends throughout, perhaps even moving up a level to become a Plastic (shut up!).

The game gives you options about how to approach high school life: to write about Ms. Norbury in the burn book or not? In this particular video, Cady cuts up Regina’s shirt, makes Regina weird face lotion, and buys candy grams for all the Plastics but Gretchen. She even pukes on Aaron and participates in the mathlete competition (the limit does not exist!).

Old favorites — Ms. Norbury, Mr. Duvall, Regina, Gretchen, Janis, Damian, Karen, and Aaron Samuels — appear throughout. Re-worked versions of “One Way or Another” and “Jingle Bell Rock,” both of which are songs from the film’s soundtrack, appear in the game as well.

Sound fetch? Duh! Fingers crossed that if (and hopefully when) there is a sequel, we get a gamified version of Kevin G.’s rap. Until then:
