Open Mike Eagle is a very funny rapper from Chicago living in L.A. Hannibal Buress is a very funny standup comedian from Chicago living in New York City. Recently, they got together to make a video for “Doug Stamper,” a song from Open Mike’s new LP Dark Comedy (out now on Mello Music Group) named after Frank Underwood’s ruthlessly efficient (and possibly deceased) chief of staff on House of Cards. As you might expect, it’s very funny, with an advice-show setup that you might find genuinely useful—as long as you live in a small town and you’re in love with your cousin.
Mike says, “Hannibal and I commissioned secret focus groups on Black Twitter to come up with some raps that would be genuinely helpful. There’s a vicious rumour going around that Amy Poehler wrote Hannibal’s verse, but thats unfair and subtly racist. In memory of the God Doug Stamper.”
