This fall, Scandal fans can come one step closer to becoming Olivia Pope. On September 22, a Scandal-inspired fall fashion line that “embodies the elegance and power of the Scandal aesthetic,” will debut in The Limited clothing stores. Kerry Washington, who portrays D.C. political fixer Olivia Pope, developed the collection with Scandal’s costume designer Lyn Paolo, and the debut will mark the first time a national retailer has collaborated with the star and costume designer of a top-rated television show on a fashion line.
“The collection is a nod to our devoted fans, to fans of fashion and to women everywhere who are inspired to boldly pursue their passions and look good while doing it,” Washington said in a statement. Paolo added, “We believe the collection tells a story of confidence and professional sophistication as well as maintaining a strong feminine point of view.”
The collection, which is meant to “reflect Olivia Pope’s unique style,” will consist of tops, pants, jackets, and outerwear, with prices starting at $49. Although the collection is outfit-driven, Limited’s design head Elliot Staples says fans (that is, “gladiators”) can still “create effortlessly modern and powerful looks” by mixing and matching.
“Olivia Pope’s signature wardrobe is well represented by tailored wide leg trousers, separate jackets with strong lines and signature trims, chic feminine blouses, and heroic outerwear pieces. Our plaid round collar cape seamlessly translates television to reality and captures the true essence of the consistent sophistication and style that Olivia Pope represents for confident women everywhere,” said Elliot Staple in the statement.
Here’s to hoping H&M announces that it’s coming out with a Louie-inspired collection of black T-shirts next.
