Most theatergoers already know that summer is for blockbusters and December is for Oscar bait, but did you know that most college-themed movies come out in April?
That’s one of many film factoids learned via Time’s new Movie Theme Calendar, which categorizes major releases by the tags they’ve received by users on IMDb. The data was collected by comparing 8,298 releases going back to 1913. Some of the discoveries are pretty expected: Main characters die most in December, just in time for awards season. But others come out of nowhere: Why are so many World War II movies released in February?
