Hip-hop website WorldStarHipHop is getting the movie treatment, Paramount has confirmed.

Paramount Insurge, a division of Paramount Pictures devoted to films with smaller budgets, has bought a pitch inspired by WorldStarHipHop, a site created in 2005 and known for its focus on hip-hop culture and shocking videos.

Ian Edelman, creator of HBO series How to Make it in America, will be writing the screenplay. Though no director is attached yet, Def Jam co-founder Russell Simmons, Douglas Banker, Trevor Engelson (Remember Me), and WorldStarHipHop founder Q Worldstar are on board to produce.
