Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is finally in theaters, close to a decade after the release of the first Frank Miller graphic novel adaptation. Back in 2005, co-director Robert Rodriguez’s decision to shoot the film mostly on greenscreens was seen as a wild gambit. Now, it’s practically par for the course that most major Hollywood productions will feature at least a few digital backlots.
Even so, it’s thrillingly weird to see how the Sin City filmmakers transform an empty set into a dark metropolis. That’s why EW is excited to share a few behind-the-scenes photos showing off how Sin City creates Sin City, with stars like Jessica Alba, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Bruce Willis entering the digital comic-book universe.
