Benedict Cumberbatch wins Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie Emmy

At the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Monday night, Benedict Cumberbatch won the 2014 Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes in Sherlock. He was not present to accept the award.

Other actors nominated in the field were Chiwetel Ejiofor of Dancing on the Edge, Idris Elba of Luther, Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thornton of Fargo, and Mark Ruffalo of The Normal Heart.
