We’re closing in on a year since Frozen came out and the cultural dominance of “Let It Go” is not fading. News only recently broke that vocal powerhouse Lea Michele will sing the hit on Glee, and while her effort is sure to be technically proficient, it probably won’t be as funny as this attempt by Ellen DeGeneres and Kristen Wiig, both of whom apparently missed out on the phenomenon. After admitting on DeGeneres’ show that neither are really familiar with the song—Wiig knows that the words “let it go” are in the song, and DeGeneres’ niece sang it to her—the two got some microphones and attempted to sing along. It’s not pleasant on the ears, but it’s delightful.

Wiig, of course, is something of an expert this type of thing. Her duet with DeGeneres recalls her recurring Weekend Update bit “Garth and Kat,” in which she and Fred Armisen played a duo who never knew what the hell they were supposed to be singing.
