Sara Bareilles’ “Brave” and Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors” seem like a perfect match with their inspirational messages of self acceptance.

Now the two musicians have combined the songs as part of a campaign organized by Hoda Kotb for Today‘s Shine a Light series. “When I visit pediatric hospitals, all I want to do is make it better,” breast cancer survivor Kotb said. “If music helped me, I thought maybe I could give these kids the gift of that perfect song. A song just for them.

Kotb, who is raising money for pediatric cancer research, is deeming the mash-up “Truly Brave,” and its video features patients from The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and some paint. No, you won’t be immune from tears.
