New Banksy artwork appears in English seaside town

Banksy Art Buff

Finding an authentic Banksy is like discovering a… well, an authentic Banksy. The elusive artist’s work has been subject to many imitations, but a legitimate piece from Banksy appeared over the weekend in the English seaside town of Folkestone.

The piece depicts an older woman wearing headphones connected to a device that looks like a cross between a walkman and a Ghostbusters PKE meter while staring into a small, Roman-styled column.

Banksy also posted pictures of the piece on his website, showing the wall he painted on before and after his work was completed. To protect the artwork, the district council governing Folkestone has promised to work with the owner of the building on which Banksy painted. The artist himself put a clear plastic cover called Art Buff over the piece, according to The Telegraph.

While not officially listed as part of the event, Banksy mentions on his website that the piece is “sort of” a part of the Folkestone Triennial, a two-month ceremony currently underway that has officially signed on several other artists, including Yoko Ono.
