Syfy is returning to outer space and bringing along Battlestar Galactica’s Tricia Helfer in this first trailer for its upcoming miniseries thriller Ascension. The pitch: The U.S. launches a massive space ark containing 600 people to save humanity and populate a new world, but they experience some rather serious complications. The series from writer Philip Levens (Smallville) stars Brian Van Holt as the ship’s captain and Helfer as his power broker wife. Ascension debuts Nov. 24 on Syfy, and though it’s billed as a limited series, I suspect if the show is successful that it could expand (like Battlestar after its original remake miniseries).
