Brass Bed mix melody and fuzzed-out stomp on 'Be Anything'

Brass Bed

Since they started recording 10 years ago, Brass Bed have earned a reputation for crafting quirky-smart pop tunes, but recently they’ve taken a more straightforward approach to writing that’s paid off handsomely. Last year they released their best album yet, The Secret Will Keep You, and they’re hard at work on its follow-up, due next year. In the meantime, they recorded a session live to tape with Thee Oh Sees and Ty Segall producer Chris Woodhouse, resulting in two new songs that are more electric and direct than anything they’ve recorded before. “Be Anything,” the A-side to their new single, finds a blissful balance of dirty fuzz and clean melodic lines that has a lot in common with Teenage Fanclub at their best. The seven-inch comes out Nov. 18 on MA’AM Records, and if you pre-order now you might still be able to snag one of the 100 copies that’ll be available on blue-streaked milky-clear vinyl.
