Though initial Interstellar trailers remained relatively earthbound, the latest clearly shows where Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, and company are headed in Christopher Nolan’s latest. And it’s a place with some waves that look like mountains. “Everybody ready to say goodbye to our solar system?” McConaughey says.
The trailer also sets up a dichotomy between Hathaway and McConaughey’s characters, with Hathaway representing the pessimistic opinion. She says, “We got this far, farther than any human in history.” He says, “Well, not far enough.” He doesn’t think she’s going to make it. He does. The trailer ends with her voiceover. ”You might have to decide between seeing your children again and the future of the human race,” she says. “We’ll find a way,” he responds. “We always have.”
Though Interstellar is set to be released on Nov. 7, Paramount and Warner Bros. announced today that it will be released on film in select locations Nov. 5. According to a press release, the movie, which was shot in a combination of 35mm anamorphic film and 65mm IMAX film, will be shown then in three formats: in 15 perf/70mm as part of The IMAX Experience, in 70mm, and in 35mm.
