According to “i,” Kendrick Lamar loves himself—and according to the accompanying music video, he also loves dancing with himself.
“i” is the first track off Lamar’s upcoming album, his first since 2012’s critically acclaimed good kid, m.A.A.d. city. It’s an upbeat ode to self-love that samples the Isley Brothers’ 1973 hit “That Lady.” (Ron Isley even makes an appearance in the video as Lamar’s driver).
Lamar spends most of the video dancing through various crowds in the dark of night—that is, when he’s not hanging out the window of Isley’s car spitting his verses.
