Jay Leno makes first 'Tonight Show' appearance since retiring

Last night on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, former host Jay Leno came by—not just as a guest, but as a performer. Following waves of applause, Leno performed a brief standup set, feigning surprise when Jimmy Fallon called him to the couch for an interview.

“So how am I doing?” Fallon eagerly asked, after calling Leno over to the couch. The two went on to discuss Leno’s recent trip to Israel, and reminisced about the ridiculous photo shoots they took together for the Tonight Show transition—as well as Fallon’s (bad) idea to purchase an “old-timey” car. UPDATE: Leno’s return was also a ratings success. According to The Wrap, the episode gave The Tonight Show the biggest Friday night it has had in eight months.
