After nearly six decades, India has changed the law that once prevented women from working as makeup artists on films.

According to the Wall Street Journal, India’s Supreme Court ruled on Monday that the Cine Costume, Make-up Artists and Hair Dressers Association had to lift its ban and allow female make-up artists.

With India’s growing Bollywood industry, this will open many doors for women. As Charu Khurana, a Delhi-based makeup artist, told the Wall Street Journal, her “right to earn a living had been restored.”
