Sam Smith, Ellie Goulding, more collaborate for 'Do They Know It's Christmas?'

Band Aid 30

(ITV)

In 1984, musicians like Bono and Phil Collins got together to sing “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” as one unit: Band Aid. Bob Geldof and Midge Ure wrote the song to raise money for relief efforts going toward the Ethiopia famine, and now, 30 years later, big-time musicians are collaborating on the song once again—this time to fight Ebola as Band Aid 30.

Rita Ora, One Direction, Sam Smith, Ellie Goulding, and Seal are among the artists in this year’s Band Aid. (Bono, who was a member of the original Band Aid as well as 2004’s Band Aid 20, also returned to the studio for this version.) The song, which premiered on the UK’s X Factor Sunday evening and is now streaming over at The Telegraph, will be available on iTunes Monday, and the CD single comes out Dec. 8.
