TV Land—known for Hot in Cleveland and its reruns of classic sitcoms—is targeting Younger audiences with the announcement that its newest comedy, starring Sutton Foster and Hilary Duff, will premiere on March 31 of next year.
The comedy—produced by Sex and The City creator Darren Star, who also wrote and directed the pilot—was originally scheduled to air in January 2015 and stars Foster (Bunheads) as a newly single 40-year-old Liza, who struggles to re-enter the world of magazine publishing after a 15-year-long hiatus to raise her daughter. It doesn’t take long for Liza to realize that the workforce has changed—thanks to Facebook, iPads, SnapChat and YouTube—and under pressure from her best friend Maggie (Debi Mazar), she agrees to a makeover that will help her look younger. Armed with casual beach waves, light pink lipgloss and a boho-inspired wardrobe, Liza pretends to be 26 and immediately lands a job as an assistant to a publishing house marketing executive Diana (Miriam Shor). But no workplace comedy is without a trusty sidekick and in short order, Liza finds herself bonding with savvy co-worker Kelsey (Duff).
The single-camera comedy is filmed in New York City and reunites Star with Emmy Award-winning stylist Patricia Field, the original costume consultant for Sex and The City. Check out this exclusive clip from the series premiere, which features 20-something Kelsey quoting Taylor Swift as she warns Liza about their menacing boss.
Younger premieres on TV Land on Tuesday, March 31 at 10pm ET/PT.
