'Gracepoint' won't get a second season

No surprise, but here it is: Fox’s Gracepoint isn’t getting a second season.

We’re hearing the limited series thriller won’t continue, effectively ending Broadchurch remake. Gracepoint starred David Tennant and Anna Gunn as detectives investigating a small-town murder. The drama has had very low ratings on Thursday night, with last week’s finale delivering 4 million viewers and a 0.9 rating among adults 18-49. Fox had no comment.

Gracepoint was always billed as a limited series so another season wasn’t expected per se. But if the show had done well, it’s a very safe bet Fox would have tried another round. Even with the U.K.’s much greater inclination for short-order TV, the original series Broadchurch is doing a second season.

Fox has had a rough run this fall. Its Batman prequel Gotham has firmly been a success, but Gracepoint, Mulaney, Red Band Society, and Utopia are all canceled or presumed canceled.
