Hannibal will welcome a new face in the upcoming third season.

Michael Pitt has exited the NBC series, with Joe Anderson stepping in to replace him, according to TVLine.com.

The Boardwalk Empire alum first appeared in season 2 as Mason Verger, a sociopathic pig farmer. The recasting kind of works out since Lecter gave Mason hallucinogenic drugs at the end of season 2 and persuaded him to cut off pieces of his own face.

Anderson’s previous credits include Across the Universe, The River and The Divide.

Hannibal will return to NBC in 2015.
