After a year packed to the brim with almost uniformly terrible news, BBC Middle East correspondent Quentin Summerville felt that some levity was in order. So he shared a video of himself losing his composure while standing in front of eight and a half “tonnes” of burning opium, heroin, and other narcotics.
While we can’t say for sure that he was subsequently stoned out of his mind, it’s a pretty reasonable explanation for the fit of giggles that renders Summerville incapable of completing his report.
According to The Telegraph, the video—which Summerville has since removed from his Twitter, presumably due to copyright issues—was taken four years ago, and had never been aired before. Now, we’ll have it forever.
