There are several new faces haunting the woods of WGN America’s Salem next season, with Xena: Warrior Princess star Lucy Lawless, Stuart Townsend, Joe Doyle and Oliver Bell joining the cast as the second season begins production in Shreveport, LA.
Salem follows a 17th century witch, Mary Sibley (Janet Montgomery), in her efforts to hide her true identity from the people of Salem. Sibley must battle to keep the town under her control as friends and enemies begin to question her motivations when an ex-lover, Captain John Alden (Shane West), returns to town from the war.
Lawless will act as a special recurring guest star as one of the last remaining survivors of a line of ancient German witches. Townsend will also have a recurring guest role while Doyle will join the cast as a series regular. Bell, who played Mary’s son who she thought was dead after an–experimental?–witch treatment in the woods, will return to reprise his role.
The 13-episode second season premieres on WGN America in April. Check out the trailer to see just how creepy Anne Hale has become.
