Emile Haynie may not be a name you hear everyday, but chances are you’ve heard his work more times than you can count—he produced Lana Del Rey’s Born to Die and co-produced Kanye West’s “Runaway,” as well as much of Eminem’s Recovery album, FKA twigs’ debut LP1, Bruno Mars “Gorilla,” and more. Last August, he dropped his own beautifully simple piano-led track, “A Kiss Goodbye,” featuring Charlotte Gainsbourg, Dev Hynes, and Sampha.

On Friday, he released a reprise of the tune. Off a 12” that Interscope is releasing on January 20th of material from his forthcoming debut, it’s less airy, less ethereal, a bit more melancholic, and (arguably) even better than the original.
