Dustin Diamond was arrested in December for allegedly stabbing a man, and the Saved by the Bell star appeared in court Thursday to plead not guilty in the case, according to his lawyer, Thomas Alberti.

According to the criminal complaint obtained by EW, Diamond noticed two men grabbing his girlfriend by the hair and then went toward his girlfriend when a man grabbed him. Diamond then grabbed “[this man’s] arm and [moved] it up around,” knife in hand. He later said he “did not intentionally stab the individual in the bar.”

Diamond is facing charges of recklessly endangering safety, carrying a concealed weapon, and disorderly conduct—charges that could add up to over 10 years in prison. He will appear in court again on Feb. 19.
