The CW has finally ordered its first pilots of the season with a drama from Julie Plec and a remake of George R. Romero’s horror anthology series Tales from the Darkside, EW has learned.

Based upon the original Belgian series, Cordon tells the story of a deadly epidemic that breaks out in Atlanta, forcing a large city quarantine that leaves those stuck on the inside to fight for their lives. Loved ones are tragically torn apart and the society that grows inside the cordon reveals both the devolution of humanity and the birth of unlikely heroes. Plec (The Vampire Diaries, The Originals) will write and executive-produce with David Nutter.

Tales from the Darkside, meanwhile, is a reinvention of the horror/fantasy/thriller anthology series from the ’80s. Joe Hill will write and executive-produce with Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Heather Kadin, Mitch Galin and Jerry Golod.

Additionally, the network ordered a pilot for Dead People, which hails from Bad Robot Productions. After a near-death experience, a down-on-his-luck, semi-alcoholic but roguishly charming cab driver suddenly has the ability to interact with ghosts, including his late ex-wife who he has never gotten over. Tom Kapinos will write and executive-produce.
