For two seasons, Bates Motel fans have watched Norman Bates go from an innocent young man, completely ignorant of his dark side, to someone who’s fully aware of the blood on his hands, whether he can control it or not. To his credit, Norman did try to put an end to all of it last season, marching out into the woods with a gun and a plan to kill himself. But after his mother stopped him, the question remains: How will Norman deal with his blackouts moving forward?

In an exclusive behind-the-scenes clip from the upcoming third season of Bates Motel, the cast and crew talks about Norman’s transition and how this season marks the arrival of the Norman Bates fans know from the film Psycho. In other words, the showers are no longer a safe place.

Bates Motel season 3 premieres Monday, March 9 at 9 p.m. on A&E.
