Chance the Rapper Check Out: Acid Rap
Why He'll Be Big: The 20-year-old Chance (né Chancelor Bennett) just gave away one of the best albums of the year in his free Acid Rap mixtape, which finds him giddily free-associating over warm, druggy funk. His off-kilter flow, puckish wordplay, and growing network of collaborators (including fellow underground heroes Action Bronson, Childish Gambino, and Ab-Soul) should keep him in heavy rotation. —Kyle Anderson

Chance the Rapper and Alec Baldwin were both in Chicago for the Young Chicago Authors event over the weekend, so they did as any—okay, nope, there’s no way we saw this one coming. Their meeting resulted in a freestyle collaboration in which Chance beatboxed and Baldwin rapped an excerpt of Carl Sandburg’s 1914 poem “Chicago.” Sandburg set Baldwin up for success, as Sandburg was reputed for his plain-spoken free verse.

Chance posted the video to his Instagram Sunday. To learn more about Young Chicago Authors, visit the non-profit’s website.
