If we’ve learned anything about natural disasters involving hybrid shark-infused tornados over two years and two made-for-TV movies, it’s this: Nothing can stop the Sharknado. Except, maybe, a labor strike.
Deadline is reporting that the third installment in the over-the-top franchise has been forced to halt production after 30-40 crew members voted to strike. According to the Motion Picture Editor’s Guild, the members are picketing for an IATSE contract, which would provide health and pension benefits.
EW reached out to The Asylum—the production studio behind the Sharknado franchise—for comment on the current state of Sharknado 3, but a representative was not available to speak at the time.
