Hall & Oates 1981 single “Private Eyes” (which spent two weeks on top the Billboard Hot 100 chart) is getting an electro-pop makeover courtesy of L.A.-based Youngblood Hawke with a video to match. The six-piece outfit, named after a Herman Wouk novel, is currently in the studio working on the follow-up to their 2013 major label debut, Wake Up, but plan on dropping reinventions of old favorites like this along the way.

Lead singer and keyboardist Sam Martin has this to say about the project: “We spent the majority of 2014 on the road touring songs off of our first album Wake Up, and now we’ve locked ourselves up in the studio for the last five months recording our second full-length album.  We’re writing and recording every day and can’t wait to share the new songs. Until then, we plan on releasing a cover song accompanied by a band-made music video every month until the album is released. It’s an inspiring and challenging process and a chance for us to recreate some of our favorite songs with a spin of our own.”
