Lucy Lawless has been tapped to star opposite Bruce Campbell in Starz’s Evil Dead sequel series, the network announced Monday.

In Ash vs. Evil Dead, Campbell reprises his role as the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. Now, when a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons—personal and literal.

Lawless, making a return to Starz after starring on Spartacus, will play Ruby, a mysterious figure who is myopic in her quest to hunt down the source of the recent Evil outbreaks. The only problem is she believes that Ash is the cause of it all.

The actress, whose credits also include Xena, Battlestar Galactica and Parks and Recreation, joins the previously cast Ray Santiago, Dana DeLorenzo and Jill Marie Jones. Lawless will next recur on WGN America’s Salem.

Ash vs. Evil Dead is slated to premiere later this year on Starz.
