Representatives from The Asylum, the company producing Sharknado 3, confirmed to EW that yes, former U.S. representative Michele Bachmann will be in the sharktastic threequel, and that she filmed some scenes today. The news first broke Wednesday morning, when Huffington Post editor Igor Bobic caught Bachmann filming a scene outside the White House Wednesday morning, and overheard enough dialogue to learn that Bachmann’s character (some analogue of herself) is apparently needed for a Congressional vote of some kind.

The real-life U.S. Congress may have plenty on its plate at the moment, but at least they don’t have to deal with any flying shark tornadoes. Anyone still excited about the casting of Mark Cuban and Ann Coulter to play the President and Vice President of the United States in Sharknado 3 will be overjoyed at the inclusion of yet another wacky political figure in the wackiest movie franchise currently going. Feel free to speculate who else might show up: Eliot Spitzer? Monica Lewinsky? as The Washington Post’s Hunter Schwarz speculates, maybe the movie’s Congress will consist entirely of former politicians.
Sharknado 3 is out this July.
