Kristen Wiig will join Maya Rudolph, Haley Joel Osment and other familiar faces in The Spoils Before Dying, the second installment of the Spoils franchise. Last year, Wiig earned an Emmy nomination for her role in The Spoils of Babylon.
Set in 1962, in the middle of the L.A. jazz scene, the satire follows Rock (Michael Kenneth Williams) as a man on the run after his on-and-off flame Fresno Foxglove (Rudolph) turns up dead. He flees to Mexico to reunite with his former big-band singer Delores O’Dell (Wiig), before they head back to the U.S. to prove his innocence. Osment will play Rock’s manager, Alistair St. Barnaby, who vehemently tries to get him to record a mainstream album amidst this murder mystery debacle.
Returning with new roles are Michael Sheen (Masters of Sex), Val Kilmer (Batman Forever), Steve Tom (Major Crimes), and Marc Evan Jackson (Brooklyn Nine-Nine).
The franchise will also welcome Kate McKinnon (SNL, Ghostbusters), Tim Meadows (Marry Me, SNL), Chris Parnell (30 Rock, SNL), Emily Ratajkowski (Gone Girl, We Are Friends), Andrew Daly (Review, Comedy Bang! Bang!), Chris Mulkey (Whiplash, Twin Peaks), Chin Han (Marco Polo), Jack Kilmer (Palo Alto), Patty Guggenheim (Casa de mi Padre), and Bérénice Marlohe (Skyfall).
The six-part miniseries—executive produced by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Matt Piedmont, Andrew Steele, and Nate Young—will debut this summer on IFC.
