The Blacklist's Diego Klattenhoff discusses his role while playing video games

(Craig Blankenhorn/NBC)

NBC’s hit drama The Blacklist offers no shortage of tense moments for its core cast, least of all for Diego Klattenhoff’s Agent Donald Ressler.

Ressler is often out in the field, assisting Liz (Megan Boone) and Red (James Spader) on the hunt for criminals both at home and around the globe. Ressler has faced some of the show’s most gruesome murderers but when Klattenhoff visited the EW office, he faced a challenge unlike anything his character has dealth with: a confusing video game.

We sat down with Klattenhoff to play #IDARB, a frantic game that pits players against each other to score points in each other’s goals while dealing with whatever the game throws at them. Imagine a virtual game of soccer, but occasionally the screen will spin around and Rick Astley will dance across the screen.

Klattenhoff played a few rounds of #IDARB in our new series Q&Play while discussing his experience on The Blacklist’s two seasons so far. We learn about what its been like for the actor to play Ressler, what the rest of the season has in store, and that neither of us will be leaving our day jobs to become professional #IDARB players any time soon.

The Blacklist airs Thursdays on NBC at 9 p.m. ET.
