Michael B. Jordan has been preparing for his upcoming role in Rocky spinoff Creed. And a first look at his role in the film shows he has quite the formidable trainer at his side.
Sylvester Stallone posted the first official image of Fruitvale Station star Jordan as Adonis Creed—the Creed family obviously has no room for subtlety—the son of Rocky Balboa’s rival-turned-friend Apollo.
Jordan and Stallone, possibly in character as Rocky or possibly as himself forgetting that hats don’t belong in the ring, are training together as Adonis prepares to live up to his father’s legacy. Creed will be Stallone’s seventh feature film as Rocky, his last appearance being 2006’s Rocky Balboa.
There’s not much else to go on, but as the film, which is directed by Fruitvale Station‘s Ryan Coogler, nears its release later this year, expect to see more of Adonis’ rise in the months to come.
Correction: The article originally said Adonis Creed is Apollo’s grandson when he is in fact his son in the film.
