Tech titans want you to be afraid of Ex Machina in new trailer

Ex Machina is slowly creeping into the public consciousness. The artificial-intelligence thriller that stars two new members of the Star Wars universe—Oscar Isaac and Domhnall Gleeson—and Alicia Vikander has been thriving during two weeks of limited release. In the movie, Gleeson’s computer-programmer is invited by his billionaire boss to take part in an experiment, the ultimate Turing Test, where he encounters Ava, an extremely human and extremely beguiling A.I. who is only just beginning to understand her own potential.

With the film poised to expand nationwide this week, a new trailer launched that features the best marketing money can’t buy. Billionaire tech celebrities, like Elon Musk and Bill Gates, have recently expressed their own personal fears about the looming threat of artificial intelligence, and their quotes set the dark tone for the film—which gives HAL 9000 the seductive shell of a Fembot.
