Warner Bros. and The Vampire Diaries introduce Sarah Jones memorial scholarship

In honor of late camera assistant Sarah Jones, Warner Bros. Television Group and the Vampire Diaries production team have joined with the International Cinematographers Guild and SIM Digital to offer an annual internship and job training program.

“Sarah was a beloved member of our camera crew,” said Vampire Diaries producer Julie Plec in a statement. “Her family at The Vampire Diaries is excited to honor her memory by providing opportunities and opening doors for more people like her.”

Jones died in Feb. 2014 on the set of Midnight Rider after getting struck by a freight train. Now, the Sarah Jones Opportunity wants to give aspiring Gerogia-area filmmakers access to the entertainment industry by presenting the participant a 20-week paid internship/camera training, work experience at an Atlanta-based Warner Bros. production, and membership eligibility for the International Cinematographers Guild Local 600.

Chelsea Craig, the program’s first participant, completed her training and is now a member of the ICG.
