Big news, East Coast fans of Korean entertainment: KCON will expand to New York City this summer. KCON launched in 2012 and has quickly evolved into North America’s premiere K-pop event, drawing 40,000 fans to the Los Angeles area for last year’s incarnation.
KCON will still hold its Los Angeles event this year—at the Staples Center, from July 31 to Aug. 2—but will make its New York debut a week later. The event will be held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on Aug. 8.
KCON organizers have yet to announce specific performers, but the convention has a track record of drawing top talent, including Girls Generation, G-Dragon, f(x), EXO, BTS, and CNBLUE. In addition to music, KCON features panels, activities, and food.
