Richard Gere’s drama Franny has been picked up for U.S. distribution by Samuel Goldwyn Films after its Tribeca Film Festival debut last month.

Gere stars as the titular character, described as a “rich, eccentric” philanthropist with hedonistic tendencies, who worms his way into the life of his late friend’s daughter (Dakota Fanning) and her husband (Theo James) in an attempt to re-live his own past. The film’s cast also includes Clarke Peters, Cheryl Hines, and Dylan Baker.

Director Andrew Renzi made his feature directing debut with the film, working from his own script.
