Barbarossa wanders the woods in video for sparse 'Imager' -- exclusive

Music videos don’t always align with their soundtracks, which makes Barbarossa’s new video for “Imager,” the title track off his second album, that much cooler. The video finds Barbarossa—London’s James Mathé, who’s also played with Swedish folkies Junip—wandering through an overcast forest. He looks chilly, a descriptor which also fits the track. Sparse but tuneful, the cut sounds a bit like Miike Snow, but without all their grandiose, festival-catering idiosyncracies.

Check out EW’s exclusive premiere of the “Imager” video below and stay tuned for Barbarossa’s new album, which drops May 12.
