With Jay-Z’s Tidal entering a ring of music streaming services that already includes Pandora and Beats, Spotify might expand into the online video front, the Wall Street Journal reports.
Sources tell the paper that Spotify has been reaching out to content creators like YouTube to explore its options for “acquiring their material and co-creating original video series.” According to its 2014 numbers, Spotify has 15 million subscribers and 60 million active users. Subscribers and non-subscribers will reportedly both have access to Spotify’s video content.
An announcement regarding the venture could come this month, with Spotify’s media presentation planned for May 20.
